Preacher Roe was not known for his batting skills. This left-handed pitcher, right-handed batter said that it was regular practice for the coaches to signal for him to bunt. At times this would irritate him to the point where he would ignore the signs and try hitting it anyway. This was the case when he made his infamous home run in 1953.
